The Use of Aluminum In Car

Since car aluminum was been used, its consumption has been increasing year by year, from the initial radiator and wheel hub to the engine block, hood, body-in-white and other parts. Different application parts correspond to different processing techniques.

The aluminum alloys used for car body panels mainly include 2000 series, 5000 series and 6000 series alloys, while some parts of the NIO ES8 body use 7 series aluminum alloys. The comm grade are 5083, 6016, 5052,etc.

Compared with car bodies, aluminum alloys for car wheels are more widely used. Aluminum alloy wheels stand out in the automotive industry due to their light weight, fast heat dissipation, good shock absorption performance, and long tire life, with huge development potential. The materials used for aluminum wheels include AlSi series alloys, Mg alloys, and t6061 aluminum.

Automotive aluminum heat exchangers are composed of aluminum tubes that pass cooling water and heat sinks for heat dissipation. The aluminum tubes are generally made of 1xxx and 3xxx series aluminum alloys by extrusion and drawing. The heat dissipation fins are made of 3xxx series and 6xxx series like 3003 aluminium sheet.
